St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras misplaced his cool after his group’s loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, and he has since expressed remorse over his actions.
The Cardinals had been trailing 3-0 within the backside of the ninth inning at Busch Stadium in St. Louis when outfielder Alec Burleson led off with a double. Cubs reliever Daniel Palencia then hit Contreras with a pitch to deliver the tying run to the plate with no outs.
Palencia struck out the following three batters to get out of the jam. The suitable-hander was understandably excited and shouted one thing within the course of Contreras, who took exception. Contreras then started jawing at Palencia, which resulted within the benches clearing.
