Two Delta Airways planes collided on the tarmac at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Worldwide Airport shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The collision concerned Delta Air Traces Flight 295, an Airbus A350 certain for Tokyo, and Endeavor Air Flight 5526, a Bombardier CRJ900 scheduled to depart for Lafayette, Louisiana, Fox5 Atlanta reported.

Endeavor is a subsidiary of Delta Airways.

Based on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred when the wingtip of the A350 struck the tail of the CRJ900 as each plane had been taxiing.

Fortuitously, no accidents have been reported among the many 221 passengers on board the Tokyo-bound flight or the 56 passengers on the Endeavor flight.

A meteorologist from WFTS, an ABC affiliate in Tampa Bay, reported being a passenger on one of many planes when his flight was clipped by one other plane throughout taxiing.

“That was terrifying,” he mentioned. “Taxiing out for the flight from Atlanta to Louisiana and one other aircraft seems to have clipped the again of our aircraft. Very jarring, steel scraping sounds then loud bangs. We’re fantastic. No hearth or smoke.”

The FAA has introduced that it’ll conduct a radical investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A spokesperson for Hartsfield-Jackson confirmed that whereas there was minimal affect to airport operations, passengers had been bussed from one plane to the terminal whereas the opposite taxied underneath its personal energy.
