    Türkiye stresses opposition to decentralisation in Syria

    ANKARA: Türkiye rejects any plans that undermine the central authorities in Syria or threaten its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Turkish sources stated, responding to calls for from Kurds for Syria to undertake a decentralised system of presidency.

    Türkiye backed rebels towards former President Bashar al-Assad for years and is seen because the closest overseas ally of Syria’s new Islamist leaders, vowing to assist them rebuild and stabilise a rustic devastated by 14 years of conflict.
