    Trump’s image of dead ‘white farmers’ came from Reuters footage in Congo, not South Africa

    JOHANNESBURG: US President Donald Trump confirmed a screenshot of Reuters video taken within the Democratic Republic of Congo as a part of what he falsely introduced on Wednesday (Could 21) as proof of mass killings of white South Africans.

    “These are all white farmers which might be being buried,” stated Trump, holding up a print-out of an article accompanied by the image throughout a contentious Oval Workplace assembly with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. 

    In reality, the video revealed by Reuters on Feb 3 and subsequently verified by the brand new company’s reality test group, confirmed humanitarian employees lifting physique baggage within the Congolese metropolis of Goma. The picture was pulled from Reuters footage shot following lethal battles with Rwanda-backed M23 rebels.

    The White Home didn’t reply to a request for remark. Andrea Widburg, managing editor at American Thinker and the writer of the publish in query, wrote in reply to a Reuters question that Trump had “misidentified the picture”.
