    The Justice Division earlier this month announced it’s suing the state of Virginia for eradicating non-citizens from its voter rolls.

    “The Justice Division introduced immediately that it has filed a lawsuit in opposition to the State of Virginia, Virginia State Board of Elections and Virginia Commissioner of Elections to problem a scientific state program aimed toward eradicating voters from its election rolls too near the Nov. 5 common election in violation of the Nationwide Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA),” the DOJ introduced.

    “Part 8(c)(2) of the NVRA, also called the Quiet Interval Provision, requires states to finish systematic packages aimed toward eradicating the names of ineligible voters from voter registration lists no later than 90 days earlier than federal elections. The Quiet Interval Provision applies to sure systematic packages carried out by states which can be aimed toward putting names from voter registration lists based mostly on a perceived failure to fulfill preliminary eligibility necessities — together with citizenship — on the time of registration,” the DOJ mentioned.

    The lawsuit comes two months after Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) issued an government order that codifies election safety procedures to guard the 2024 election in opposition to intentional fraud.
