    Padres edge Cardinals for 4th win in 5 games

    Jake Cronenworth drove within the decisive run to elevate the visiting San Diego Padres previous the St. Louis Cardinals 7-5 on Tuesday evening.

    Manny Machado hit a house run because the Padres gained for the fourth time in 5 video games. Luis Arraez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run.

    Padres starter Dylan Stop allowed 4 runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out 4 and walked 4. Yuki Matsui (4-2) obtained the victory and Tanner Scott claimed his twentieth save.

    Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer for the Cardinals, who misplaced for the third time in 4 video games.

    Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas allowed 4 runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Reliever John King (3-3) took the loss.

    Within the Cardinals’ first inning, Masyn Winn hit a single, went to 3rd on Alec Burleson’s double and scored on a wild pitch. Burleson later scored on Luken Baker’s sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.

    The Padres surged forward 4-2 within the second inning.

    Machado hit his homer to start out the comeback. Jackson Merrill hit a double, David Peralta adopted with a single, then Luis Campusano hit an RBI single, Mason McCoy hit a run-scoring groundout and Arraez hit an RBI single.

    The Cardinals loaded the bases within the second and third innings, however Stop escaped each jams unscathed.

    St. Louis took a 5-4 lead within the fifth inning. Brendan Donovan singled, took second on a wild pitch, moved to 3rd on a groundout and scored on Lars Nootbaar’s single.

    Bryan Hoeing relieved Stop and allowed Goldschmidt’s two-run homer.

    The Padres regained the lead, 6-5, within the seventh inning. McCoy walked, Arraez hit a single, then San Diego executed a double steal to arrange Jurickson Profar’s sacrifice fly.

    Cronenworth adopted together with his go-ahead RBI single.

    The Padres made it 7-5 within the ninth inning when McCoy doubled, superior on a flyout and scored on a wild pitch.
