To the editor: What a troubling and unhappy state of affairs relating to homelessness in Los Angeles and its vicinities (“New taxes will soon dwarf the billions spent on homelessness in last decade. Who’s watching over it?” April 23). Even after the approval of billions of {dollars} pursuant to prior metropolis and county propositions, the folks in cost aren’t even capable of talk successfully, not to mention use the cash to create housing.
Once I learn that Los Angeles Metropolis Councilmember Nithya Raman stated that this most up-to-date funding will permit them to speak extra successfully, I shook my head and rolled my eyes. Over the previous 10 years, a large number of directors and politicians have confirmed their incompetence by not with the ability to successfully use the billions which have already been accepted.
I can solely hope that Mayor Karen Bass can obtain higher outcomes than Eric Garcetti did to deliver housing to the unhoused. However contemplating the shortage of effectiveness in coping with the fireplace disaster, and all of the calls for that may come on account of the fires, it appears hopeless to consider that the extra $1.5 billion on the desk will really see utility to serving to unhoused folks to get off the streets.

To the editor: You don’t want buckets of cash and new homeless committees. What you want is the next: Devoted “tenting” websites for tent dwelling; metropolis/county parking heaps for leisure automobile dwelling; and metropolis/county parking heaps for automotive dwelling. All of those with full wrap-around providers, training and job coaching. Till officers get their heads round these truths, it doesn’t matter what number of buckets of cash we give them.
