To the editor: The murders of Minnesota Democratic chief Melissa Hortman and her husband, together with the shootings of state Sen. John Hoffman and his spouse, sign that the nation has actually entered a downward spiral into anarchy (“Political violence is threaded through recent U.S. history. The motives and justifications vary,” June 15). The violence is intensified by the hateful rhetoric that could be a hallmark of President Trump. He labels immigrants as rapists, murderers and drug sellers.
