    Israeli PM Netanyahu says Gaza ceasefire will not start until Hamas releases hostage list

    JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Gaza’s ceasefire, as a result of begin at 8.30am native time (2.30pm Singapore time) on Sunday (Jan 19), is not going to start till the Palestinian militant group Hamas supplies a listing of hostages to be launched.

    Netanyahu’s announcement comes one hour earlier than the ceasefire deadline. Hostages have been anticipated to be launched inside hours of the beginning of the ceasefire, opening the best way to a doable finish to a 15-month conflict that has upended the Center East.

    “The prime minister instructed the IDF (Israel Protection Forces) that the ceasefire, which is meant to enter impact at 8.30am, is not going to start till Israel has the listing of launched abductees that Hamas has pledged to supply,” his workplace stated on Sunday.

    In a subsequent assertion, an Israeli navy spokesperson stated the ceasefire is not going to take impact so long as Hamas fails to fulfill its obligations. 

    Israel will proceed to assault so long as Hamas doesn’t meet its calls for, stated the spokesperson, including that the navy is absolutely prepared for the implementation of the ceasefire and able to reply if the phrases are damaged by Hamas. 

    Hamas on Sunday affirmed its dedication to the Gaza ceasefire deal, saying the delay in disclosing the names of hostages to be launched in first section was as a result of “technical area causes”.

    Israeli forces had began withdrawing from areas in Gaza’s Rafah to the Philadelphi hall alongside the border between Egypt and Gaza, pro-Hamas media reported early on Sunday.

    Israel’s navy warned Gaza residents to not method its troops or transfer across the Palestinian territory forward of the ceasefire deadline, including when motion is allowed “a press release and directions shall be issued on secure transit strategies”.

    The ceasefire settlement adopted months of on-off negotiations brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the USA, and got here simply forward of the Jan 20 inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.
