India has launched missiles at a number of places in Pakistan and Pakistan-administred Kashmir, the federal government mentioned, and Pakistan promised to answer the assaults.
A number of explosions have been heard within the metropolis of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the Reuters information company reported on Tuesday.
“A short time in the past, the Indian armed forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the place terrorist assaults towards India have been deliberate and directed,” the Indian authorities mentioned in a press release.
“Our actions have been centered, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani army services have been focused. India has demonstrated appreciable restraint in number of targets and methodology of execution,” it mentioned.
A spokesman for Pakistan’s army instructed broadcaster ARY that India had attacked Pakistan with missiles in three locations and that Pakistan would reply.
Al Jazeera’s Kamal Hyder, reporting from Islamabad, mentioned among the many targets that have been hit have been the cities of Muzaffarabad and Kotli.
Pakistan has mentioned that whether it is attacked, that it’s going to “reply in drive”, Hyder mentioned, including that the state of affairs stays “fairly fluid”.
The event comes amid heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours within the aftermath of an assault on Hindu vacationers in Indian Kashmir final month.
India blamed Pakistan for the violence during which 26 males have been killed and vowed to reply. Pakistan denied that it had something to do with the killings.
