    India foreign minister’s Pakistan visit a ‘good beginning’, Nawaz Sharif says

    MUMBAI: The go to of India’s international minister to Pakistan earlier this week was a “good starting” that would result in a thaw in relations between the 2 rivals, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was quoted as saying by Indian media on Friday (Oct 18).

    Indian International Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was in Pakistan on Tuesday and Wednesday for a gathering of governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, with the capital metropolis underneath tight lockdown.

    “That is how talks transfer ahead. Talks shouldn’t cease,” Sharif, the president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), and the brother of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, advised a bunch of visiting Indian journalists, the Indian Specific newspaper reported.

    Jaishankar was amongst almost a dozen leaders collaborating within the gathering in Islamabad, almost a decade since an Indian international minister has visited amid frosty relations between the 2 nuclear powers.

    Jaishankar and his counterpart Ishaq Dar had an “casual interplay”, an official in Pakistani international ministry mentioned on Thursday, however New Delhi denied that any form of assembly had taken place.

    “We had made it very clear that this specific go to is for SCO head of presidency assembly. Aside from that, there have been some pleasantries exchanged on the sidelines of the assembly,” Indian international ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal mentioned on Thursday.

    “We have now misplaced the final 75 years and it’s important we do not lose the subsequent 75 years,” Sharif was quoted as saying within the Occasions of India newspaper.
