    How Finland is teaching its young to spot fake news

    TOPPING MEDIA LITERACY INDEX

    Finland is commonly held up because the benchmark for having a media literate inhabitants.

    The nation has topped the Media Literacy Index yearly because the rating system was first printed in 2017.

    The index compares 47 international locations on components corresponding to schooling, media freedom, and the flexibility to withstand disinformation.

    To equip college students with the abilities to fight misinformation, colleges throughout Finland are given the newest guide, “The ABC E-book of Media Literacy”, to show the topic. 

    Data literacy professional Susanna Ahonen, one of many driving forces behind the guide, believes it’s “within the Finnish DNA” to have an open and clear media.
