JERUSALEM: Hamas on Saturday (Apr 12) launched a video purportedly of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who has been held in Gaza since he was captured by Palestinian militants on Oct 7, 2023.
Within the undated video, the person who introduces himself as Edan Alexander states he has been held in Gaza for 551 days. The person questions why he’s nonetheless being held and pleads for his launch.
Alexander is a soldier serving within the Israeli army.
The edited video was launched as Jews started to mark Passover, a weeklong vacation that celebrates freedom. Alexander’s household launched an announcement acknowledging the video that mentioned the vacation wouldn’t be one among freedom so long as Edan and the 58 different hostages in Gaza remained in captivity.
