To the editor: After I first heard about Meeting Invoice 3206 proposing a liquor hours exemption for the non-public membership on the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, I used to be appalled. I used to be additional dismayed to be taught it was my Meeting member, Democrat Tina McKinnor, who sponsored this personal-benefit laws. (“This California bill is why people hate Sacramento under Democratic rule,” column, Oct. 3)

I wrote to her to specific my opposition to the invoice and sadly didn’t get a response from her workplace, one thing I’ll keep in mind within the subsequent election.

I then watched as Gov. Gavin Newsom labored his manner by means of this session’s payments, hoping he had the sense to veto this one. Sadly, as everyone knows however secretly hope isn’t all the time true, cash does certainly speak, and he signed the invoice into legislation.

Oh, if we might all get personally tailor-made laws for the asking.

    Lori Haythorn, Los Angeles

    ..

To the editor: Because of Gustavo Arellano for his column on Newsom and favoritism.

I like Newsom and help most of his positions, and I imagine he usually is unfairly attacked as a logo of progressive politics. Nevertheless, AB 3206 betrays the general public’s expectation of equal remedy underneath the legislation. I really feel doubly betrayed, as a result of his motion here’s a political legal responsibility as he advocates different insurance policies according to my views.

Good reporting and commentary ship vital data that we don’t essentially wish to hear. This column qualifies.

    Raymond Wells, San Pedro

    ..

To the editor: I used to love Newsom, however after he signed a invoice that extends alcohol service on the Intuit Dome’s non-public membership to 4 a.m., I see him as an elitist who panders to the wealthy and highly effective.

If the poor can’t drink after 2 a.m., nobody ought to have the ability to. And, legislation enforcement and all rational minds advise that giving individuals two extra hours to drink is silly and harmful.

Sure, Gov. Newsom, you goofed in the event you needed my vote sooner or later.
