    US Army intelligence analyst pleads guilty to selling military secrets to China

    WASHINGTON: A US Military intelligence analyst on Tuesday (Aug 13) pleaded responsible to expenses of conspiring to promote navy secrets and techniques to China, the Division of Justice mentioned.

    Korbein Schultz was charged in March with conspiracy to reveal nationwide defence data, exporting defence articles and technical information with out a license, and bribery of a public official.

    Schultz, who held prime secret clearance, conspired with a person who lived in Hong Kong, whom he suspected of being related to the Chinese language authorities, to gather nationwide defence data, together with categorized data and export-controlled technical information associated to US navy weapons techniques, in change for cash, based on charging and plea paperwork.

    “Governments like China are aggressively focusing on our navy personnel and nationwide safety data and we’ll do all the things in our energy to make sure that data is safeguarded from hostile overseas governments,” FBI Government Assistant Director Robert Wells mentioned in an announcement.

    Earlier than he was arrested, he despatched dozens of delicate and restricted – however unclassified – navy paperwork, the Division of Justice mentioned.
