For a couple of temporary minutes within the first half of Monday’s school basketball contest between Oakland and Arkansas, it seemed as if Greg Kampe and the Golden Grizzlies had been going to upset a John Calipari-coached workforce for the second time in 9 months.

A sluggish begin for the Razorbacks led to Oakland tying the sport on a number of events within the first half. The Golden Grizzlies even took a 33-31 lead with 3:37 to play.

However in contrast to Calipari’s remaining Kentucky squad, No. 23 Arkansas (11-2) weathered the storm and pulled out away for a 92-62 victory over Oakland (4-10) within the Hogs’ remaining non-conference recreation of the season.

Adou Thiero led Arkansas in scoring with 22 factors, whereas Boogie Fland scored 21 within the second half to steer the Razorbacks’ robust offensive effort. Karter Knox was the one different Razorback to achieve double figures with 17 factors.

Tuburu Naivalurua (18 factors) and Allen Mukeba (17 factors) led Oakland in scoring. After scoring 39 factors within the first half, the Golden Grizzlies had been held to simply 23 within the second half. Their poor capturing from past the arc continued as properly, as Oakland solely made two of their 16 three-point makes an attempt.

With non-conference play full, Arkansas will now shift its consideration to SEC play. The Razorbacks will open it on Saturday once they journey to Knoxville to tackle No. 1 Tennessee (12-0). The Volunteers will play their remaining non-conference recreation on Tuesday in opposition to Norfolk State.

Oakland, in the meantime, will return to Horizon League play on Jan. 2. The Golden Grizzlies will host Milwaukee searching for their second convention win of the season.

No. 23 Arkansas’ tilt with No. 1 Tennessee will tip-off at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday and can be televised on ESPN.
