MOSCOW: Russia on Friday (Nov 8) refused to say whether or not North Korean troops have been combating alongside its military in opposition to Ukraine, a day after Kyiv claimed inflicting “losses” on Pyongyang’s troopers.

The West, Ukraine and South Korea – citing intelligence stories – have stated that North Korea has sent more than 10,000 troops to Russia to be deployed for combat.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Thursday that some had already engaged in combating in Russia’s western Kursk area, the place Kyiv has launched an offensive.

“North Korean military troopers are at the moment current on the territory of the Russian Federation … specifically within the Kursk area,” Zelenskyy informed reporters.

There are “11,000 of them. A few of these troops have already taken half in hostilities in opposition to the Ukrainian navy. Sure, there are already losses”, he added.

Requested by AFP about Zelenskyy’s feedback on Friday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to remark.

“This query straight considerations the course of the particular navy operation, due to this fact it must be addressed to the defence ministry,” Peskov stated, utilizing Moscow’s most well-liked language for its offensive.
