    Ukraine asks UN, ICRC to join humanitarian effort in Russia’s Kursk region

    KYIV: Ukraine stated on Monday (Sep 16) it had requested the United Nations and the Worldwide Committee of the Purple Cross (ICRC) to hitch humanitarian efforts in Russia’s Kursk area following a cross-border incursion by Ukrainian forces.

    Ukraine’s military stays within the Kursk area greater than a month after launching the assault, by which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Kyiv has taken management of about 100 settlements.

    International Minister Andrii Sybiha stated he had instructed his ministry to formally invite the UN and ICRC to work within the Kursk area when he visited the northeast Ukrainian area of Sumy on Sunday. The ministry confirmed that it had issued the requests.

    “Ukraine is able to facilitate their work and show its adherence to worldwide humanitarian regulation,” Sybiha stated on X after the go to to Sumy, from the place Ukrainian forces launched the cross-borer assault.

    Russia’s state-run RIA information company reported on Monday that ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric had arrived on a go to to Moscow and deliberate to fulfill International Minister Sergei Lavrov.
