    United States authorities say they’ve seized a $13m plane allegedly purchased for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in violation of sanctions.

    The Dassault Falcon 900EX was seized within the Dominican Republic on Monday and has been dropped at the US state of Florida, in response to the US Division of Justice. Maduro was not on board. The seizure comes because the US has elevated strain on Maduro’s authorities after contested elections in July.

    In a press release, Legal professional Basic Merrick Garland stated the plane had been “illegally bought … by way of a shell firm and smuggled out” of the US.
