To the editor: Columnist Mark Z. Barabak criticizes state Democrats for interrupting San Diego Assemblymember Carl DeMaio on the ground final week, saying he ought to be “handled with respect” (“By stooping to conquer, Sacramento Democrats show their pettiness and arrogance,” June 29). I might disagree. Successful an election doesn’t entitle you to respect. Being an honorable particular person does. Their antics are what John Lewis known as “good hassle.” Normalizing the actions of any person who wins an election by exhibiting them respect is how we acquired in our present scenario.
