    Iran says it cannot guarantee safety of UN nuclear inspectors, suspends cooperation

    Iran can’t be anticipated to ensure the safety of inspectors from the Worldwide Atomic Vitality Company (IAEA) days after nuclear sites were hit by Israeli and US strikes, its overseas ministry’s spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated on Monday (Jun 30).

    It additionally can’t guarantee its regular cooperation with the company, he added.

    Iran has stated that it believes an IAEA decision on Jun 12 that accused it of ignoring its nuclear obligations served as an “excuse” for the war that Israel launched on Jun 13 and that ended with a fragile ceasefire last week.

    Tehran has accused Rafael Grossi, head of the IAEA, of “betrayal of his duties” for not condemning the Israeli and US strikes on Iran’s nuclear websites, and Iranian lawmakers this week voted to droop cooperation with the company.

    On Friday, Iranian International Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on X that Grossi’s insistence on visiting the bombed websites was “meaningless and probably even malign in intent”.

    Chatting with American broadcaster CBS on Sunday, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, denied that there was any risk to nuclear inspectors in Iran, insisting they had been “in protected situations” however that their work was suspended.
