US strikes may have set back Iran nuclear program only months, sources say

WASHINGTON: A preliminary US intelligence evaluation has decided that US strikes over the weekend on Iranian nuclear facilities have set again Tehran’s program by solely a matter of months, three sources with data of the matter instructed Reuters.

The preliminary report was ready by the Protection Intelligence Company, the Pentagon’s most important intelligence arm and considered one of 18 US intelligence companies, mentioned two of the sources, who requested anonymity to debate categorised issues.

The categorised evaluation is at odds with the statements of President Donald Trump and high-ranking US officers – together with Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth. They’ve mentioned the weekend strikes, which used a mix of bunker-busting bombs and extra standard weapons, basically eradicated Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump has mentioned the assaults had been needed to forestall Iran from growing a nuclear weapon. Iran denies it’s looking for such a weapon and says its nuclear program is for peaceable functions.

Hegseth on Sunday mentioned that the strikes had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear ambitions, whereas Trump mentioned Iran’s essential nuclear websites had been “utterly and absolutely obliterated”.
