To the editor: The murders of Minnesota Democratic chief Melissa Hortman and her husband, together with the shootings of state Sen. John Hoffman and his spouse, sign that the nation has actually entered a downward spiral into anarchy (“Political violence is threaded through recent U.S. history. The motives and justifications vary,” June 15). The violence is intensified by the hateful rhetoric that could be a hallmark of President Trump. Recall how, in his first run for workplace, he stated he was contemplating paying the legal fees of a person charged with hitting a protester within the face at one among his rallies.
He labels immigrants as rapists, murderers and drug sellers. His cupboard members parrot this rhetoric as evidenced by Secretary of Homeland Safety Kristi Noem, who claimed her workplace got here to Los Angeles to “liberate the town from socialists and burdensome management.” Liberate? I believe the proper phrase is “overthrow,” as in overthrowing a democracy. Get up, my fellow People. Protest peacefully and let our rising numbers communicate volumes. It’s our historical past to form.

To the editor: In late October, then-candidate Donald Trump prompt Sen. Liz Cheney be placed on a battlefield “with 9 barrels taking pictures at her” — as a result of her politics don’t align along with his.
One week later, 77.3 million People voted Trump into workplace, which is 3 million extra votes than he obtained in 2020, 14 million extra votes than he obtained in 2016, and the primary time the GOP gained the presidential widespread vote in 20 years.
We now reside in dystopian America, led by a popularly and duly elected fascist, the place politicians are murdered for his or her political opinions. And let’s be trustworthy: We’re residing on this America as a result of greater than 77 million of our pals, relations, neighbors and colleagues, principally Republicans, selected that America for us. That is who we’re.
