MOSCOW: The Kremlin expects Russia and Ukraine to debate the record of circumstances for a ceasefire within the struggle in Ukraine subsequent week in Istanbul, its spokesman mentioned on Friday (Might 30), praising the US position in mediating the talks.

Russia has proposed holding the second round of talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on Jun 2. Nonetheless, Ukraine desires to see Russia’s proposals for a peace deal earlier than it sends a delegation to Türkiye, International Minister Andrii Sybiha mentioned on Friday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned the Russian delegation can be travelling to Istanbul and can be prepared for talks with Ukraine on Monday morning.

“In the meanwhile, everybody is concentrated on the direct Russia-Ukraine negotiations. A listing of circumstances for a short lived truce is being developed,” Peskov instructed reporters. He mentioned the main points of the memorandum is not going to be printed.

Reuters reported earlier this week that Putin’s conditions for ending the war in Ukraine embody a requirement that Western leaders pledge in writing to cease enlarging NATO eastwards.

US President Donald Trump’s envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, mentioned earlier on Friday that Russia’s concern over the eastward enlargement of NATO was honest and the US didn’t need to see Ukraine within the US-led army alliance.

Commenting on Kellogg’s assertion, Peskov mentioned that Putin has been constantly conveying Russia’s place on the inadmissibility of NATO’s eastward growth.

“We’re happy that these explanations by the president are understood, together with in Washington. And, in fact, that is fairly interesting to us by way of the mediating position that Washington continues to play,” Peskov mentioned.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 after eight years of combating in japanese Ukraine between Russian-backed separatists and Ukrainian troops.
