For hundreds of years, the Fengyang Drum Tower stood tall over the Chinese language Anhui province, working like a type of clock marking the time of day, and asserting the start of official ceremonies.
However the passage of time and a latest renovation have led to a catastrophe final Monday that very almost resulted in a disaster costing human lives.

The Fengyang drum Tower is among the largest such buildings in the entire China.
A significant vacationer attraction positioned 200 miles away from Chinese language capital of Beijing, Fengyang is known for being the hometown of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, founding father of the Ming dynasty.
“However on Monday the quiet across the website was shattered as a whole bunch of roof tiles started slipping from the roof and crashing to the bottom, elevating an enormous cloud of gray-brown mud.
‘The tile falling lasted for a minute or two’, one eyewitness advised Yangcheng Night Information, a state-controlled newspaper.”

The collapse occurred after the tower was renovated in 2024.
“’There was nobody within the sq. and nobody was injured’, [a local man] advised state media outlet The Beijing Information. ‘If it occurred slightly later, there can be many youngsters enjoying (close to the tower) after dinner’.”
Native authorities say there have been no casualties reported.
On the night of Might 19, tiles fell from the Ming Zhongdu Drum Tower in Fengyang County, China.
Inbuilt 1375 throughout the Ming Dynasty, the tower not too long ago underwent repairs costing over 3.41 million yuan.
