    Ethiopia’s prime minister says his nation won’t search battle with longtime rival Eritrea over entry to the Crimson Sea, amid current fears about attainable conflict between the neighbours.

    “Ethiopia doesn’t have any intention of partaking in battle with Eritrea for the aim of having access to the ocean,” Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed mentioned on Thursday, in line with a submit by his workplace on X .

    Abiy’s ambitions to achieve entry to the ocean have angered Eritrea, which has accused it of eyeing the port of Assab.

    “Eritrea is perplexed by Ethiopia’s misguided and outdated ambitions for maritime entry and naval base ‘by way of diplomacy or army drive’,” Eritrea’s Data Minister Yemane Gebremeskel mentioned on Tuesday, echoing remarks made by the nation’s international minister to worldwide diplomats.

    In a post on X, Yemane urged the worldwide neighborhood “to strain Ethiopia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbours”.

    He additionally described Eritrea’s alleged “preparations for conflict in opposition to Ethiopia” as “false accusations”.

     

    Tensions in Tigray
