ADEN/DUBAI: The US launched airstrikes on a number of targets throughout Yemen in a single day, together with Saada province, which Yemeni sources say is a long-time hideout for Houthi leaders, and the Purple Sea port metropolis of Hodeidah, Houthi media reported on Wednesday (Mar 19).

Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported greater than 10 strikes on varied areas, together with the Al-Safra district in Saada. The district, which homes weapons storage and coaching websites, is taken into account one of many group’s most necessary and closely fortified army strongholds, in accordance with Yemeni sources.

After weeks of relative calm in Purple Sea transport lanes following a Gaza ceasefire in January, the Iran-aligned Houthis warned on Mar 12 that they’d resume assaults on Israeli vessels in response to Israel’s closure of Gaza’s crossings.

US President Donald Trump threatened to hold Iran accountable for any future Houthi assaults, warning of extreme penalties.

Regardless of US strain, the Houthis led by Abdul Malik al-Houthi have refused to reduce assaults within the Purple Sea. The group has launched a number of assaults on worldwide transport in what they are saying is in solidarity with Palestinians within the Gaza struggle.

On Tuesday, the Houthis stated they’d increase their targets in Israel within the coming hours and days until the “aggression” towards Gaza ceased.

The group claimed that it focused an Israeli air base with a ballistic missile with out offering proof.

Houthi army spokesperson Yahya Sarea, with out offering proof, stated that the group efficiently focused the USS Harry S. Truman plane service and different US warships with missiles and drones, thwarting the US assault.
